Tono keyboard switch repair performed on Tono 7000 by Des O'Brien ZL2OB
Tono decoders are sturdy machines that date back 20 years, and are still used by many radio amateurs. Most of the tono's will even perform outstanding after being used
-or stored on a shelve- for long time. But even so, sometimes a key from the keyboard will not make proper contact due to oxidation or dirt trapped in the key switch.
Batteries don't last for 20 years
Most Tono machines are equiped with batteries for memory-backup. Some even still contain the original batteries. If you get your hands on one of these its wise to open up the case and remove the old batteries.
Old batteries will start to leak and may damage internal components.
