The Tono Theta 777 is an extremely advanced code converter of high performance designed with TONO's computer technology. The unit allows completely automatic send/receive of Morse Code (CW), Baudot Code (RTTY), ASCII Code (RTTY), JIS Code (RTTY), BIT INVERSION (RTTY) and new AMTOR (ARQ/FEC/SEL-FEC).
>> PC Controller software for theta-777
The built-in RS232C and TTL level interface enables you to use tis unit in combination with most computers or terminals. You can add features depending on the software of the computer. (ASCII 100 - 200 bauds, Baudot 45.5 - 200 bauds)
The mode, speed and polarity of RTTY signa (Baudot, ASCII, JIS, Bit inversion) can be automatically judged with the Tono Theta-777
With this feature, the unit receives only messages following preset code.
Morse Code transmitting speeed can be set from the keyboard at any rate between 5 - 100 WPM (every word per minute). AUTOTRACK on receive. For communication in Baudot and ASCII Codes, rate is variable by keyboard instruction between 12 - 200 bauds when using RTTY Modem and between 12 - 600 bauds when using TTL level.
Built in Message Memory covering 64 characters x 4 channels, 32 characters x 7 channels and 16 characters x 4 channels, and a 768-character input buffer memory is available. Messages in the memory can be recalled from a keybaord instruction. You can write messages into any channels while receiving.
The Send/receive switching of the PTT of a transceiver is done automatically with a computer control. Manual switching is also available.
In RTTY modes, keyboard-controlled CW identification is availbale if required.
Idle Signal (letters code) can be automatically inserted in a pause of transmission in Baudot-RTTY mode.
With a keyboard intruction, received data can be read and sent oput to the keying jacks and AFSK jack at the same time. This function enables a cassette tape recorder to be used as a back-up memory.
While transmitting, Carriage Return / Line Feed is automatically sent every 64, 72 or 80 characters, as selected.
The buffer memory can store messages written from the keyboard instead of sending them immediately. The stored messages can be sent with a keyboard command.
"RUB-OUT" Function
You can correct mistakes while writing messages in the buffer memory. Misspellings can also be erased while the information is still in the buffer memory.
Output of CW random generator can be used as CW reading practice
For CW transmission, weight (ratio of dot to dash) can be changed within the limits of 1:3 - 1:7.
"RY" and "QBF" test messages can be repeated with this function.
Each function (mode, tone, shift, speed, etc.) is displayed on the screen.
The unit reads data from a key or keyer and displays the characters on the screen. CW keying output circuit wors according to the key operation by the "ECHO" function.
Either mark or space tone alone can be used to copy RTTY.
Crystal Controlled AFSK Modulator
A transceiver without FSK function can transit RTTY by utilizing the high stability crystal-controlled modulator controlled by the computer.
